A quick PSA to those who run a competition website…

After launching this website, I have been contacted a few times by those who own a competition website. Namely, asking me either to promote their competition or to review their brand new competition (presumably to be able to gain more awareness / reach, and there’s nothing wrong with that).

However, if you are someone who owns a competition and you approach by asking to be reviewed, here’s a quick tip: Please make sure your competition is worth reviewing in the first place!

To give examples without naming anyone’s competition on this occasion, I have been asked to review a competition that hasn’t even been launched yet… But also one that has been launched, but is clearly showing fake winners with awful stock photos on their winners page?! And competitions to win a £2,000 holiday but when you look at the prizes there are 2 x £500 prizes?! If the competition is not even running yet, or the website is at best a sloppy AI-generated mess, or the competitions and the prizes are just blatantly wrong – what kind of a review do you think I will be making?

Just as a reminder: This website is not for promoting competitions. This website is for pointing out which competition is doing things well, and which ones are not. This is categorically because of the fact that in the UK there are hundreds of competitions that are poorly run get-rich-quick-schemes by people who think running a competition successfully is easy – and that they don’t have to pay any attention to rules, regulations, and most importantly running things properly and transparently.

So, please feel free to get in touch about getting your competition reviewed on this site by all means. However, I would familiarise yourself with my Real Score framework before doing this.
